AVÈNE PRODUCT REVIEW | Rebecca Sophie

Hey guys!  Video post from me again 🙂

Today I wanted to chat about my favourite skincare brand for when my skin is super sensitive and dry. Avène products are all made from Avène spring water and are dermatologically tested and hypoallergenic so they are super soft on all skin types but made particularly with sensitive skin in mind. I always go back to these products when my skin is feeling particularly sensitive so I wanted to share my favourites and hopefully help anyone out who has a similar skin type!

I have been using Avène Skin Recovery Cream after it was recommended by my pharmacist back home. It has MASSIVELY helped with horrible dry patches that I’ve been getting in these colder months.

Avène Micellar Lotion Has been a favourite of mine for years, just super soft on the skin but you feel like it’s properly cleaned the makeup off your face each time.

A new favourite of mine is the Avène Intense Hydration Serum because it’s just such a great hydration boost for emergencies, or for if you just feel like you need an extra layer under your regular moisturiser.

My walk to work in the morning just so happens to be down one of the most polluted streets in London, and so I was looking for an anti-pollution cream for a while. Since I trust Avene products, the Avène A-Oxitive was a no-brainer for me. I know a lot of this kind of thing hasn’t been proven but this product has been tested on many people, and helps with the production of Vitamin E in your skin which is known to be lacking in people who live in highly polluted areas.

Another hydration favourite of mine is the Avène Soothing Hydration Mask. Super easy and quick, you just pop this on and leave it for 10-15 minutes and you notice the difference immediately! This is my go-to product when my skin is freaking out a little so I would HIGHLY recommend it!

And just as an FYI for the video below, my regular face cream is the La Roche-Posay Nutritic Intense Riche 🙂

La Roche-Posay Product Review | Rebecca Sophie

Hey guys!

This week I really wanted to share with you a quick review of my favourite La Roche-Posay products because it is one of my most used and most trusted skincare brands. Their products are always soft on the skin and make a big difference in my everyday routine, especially when helping with the eczema I get around my eyes and with dry, sensitive skin overall. I have to admit that I buy most of these at my local pharmacy in Belgium so they are a bit cheaper but I have listed them all down below so that you can check out prices etc. Full products, links and video down below!

My top pick out of all of these would definitely be the Nutritic Intense Riche because it has never let me down. Smells really nice and is heavy enough for my dry skin without feeling oily.

Effaclar Mat is great if you’ve got oilier skin, and I use it regularly when I’ve got lots of cream on or if I’m having an oily skin day – really gives a mat look without drying out the skin.

One that I originally had mixed opinions is the body wash called Lipikar Huile Lavante. It’s got a great texture and seriously softens and moisturises but I don’t love the smell. Saying that, I still go straight to this product when I feel like the weather’s a bit harsh on my skin!

If you’re looking for a daily body cream, I would highly recommend Lipikar Lait Body Cream as it is not very expensive and seriously does the trick! I have re-purchased this lotion a few times and would recommend it even over fancy branded lotions I’ve used.

I don’t use face scrubs very often because of my sensitive skin but about once or twice a month I really like to wash my face well and feel like it’s been 100% cleaned. When I do this, I go straight for the Gommage Surfin Face Scrub from La Roche-Posay. It’s surprisingly soft on sensitive skin but gives a very clean feeling after use.

Not gonna lie, the Effaclar Gel Moussant Purifiant is now my boyfriend’s favourite. I didn’t even realise he was using it until I noticed half the bottle was gone, but I wasn’t too annoyed because I only use this a few times a month too. It’s better for oilier skin types but every once in a while my skin does feel oily so then I like to switch it up and use this… When there’s any left!

I have had to be very careful with this product in the past because it is quite strong but if you suffer from random, BAD pimples, Effaclar Duo Dual Action Acne Treatment Cream is your man. Seriously. Kills them.

Last but not least, a luxury that I can’t help but re-purchase is the La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water. I probably use it for the wrong reasons (overheating and dampening my beauty blender…) but it is a LOVELY thing to have on your makeup table, or a mini in your bag to just refresh your face now and then.

FITNESS HAUL | Rebecca Sophie

Hi All 🙂 Here’s a glimpse into the new fitness clothes I’ve been buying recently to keep up with my weekly boxfit classes and occasional yoga sessions (full video down below).

I stopped sports for a while because I was pretty overwhelmed at work and found it really difficult to pick it up again. Luckily my local community centre started boxfit classes once a week and it was a great group of women coming together to motivate each other.

I also finally joined the gym which I go to every Sunday. I mostly use the elliptical just to get some energy out but am trying to be a bit more broad with the machines I use etc.

Finally, I’ve been finding yoga particularly helpful since I started box fit. It not only helps unwind but I feel like I need to do it regularly now, even just a half hour session, to stretch out my shoulders and legs which sometimes feel super stiff after boxfit!

Let me know what you think of my new purchases and if you recommend any other activity that I haven’t mentioned – always up for  a new challenge!

Hope you enjoy, and as always, thank you for watching, subscribing and liking my channel ❤️

6 Autumn Beauty Essentials

Unsurprisingly, my birthday season is in my opinion one of the best times of year. What more could you ask for than pumpkin flavoured everything, orange leaves all over the ground and new hats and scarves! This does also mean that my skin gets very dry, very quickly. With dots of eczema here and there, I also have to be pretty careful with what I use, so I’ve gathered up my favourites so that hopefully you find a couple new favourites too!

  • La Roche-Posay Ultra Fine Scrub
    • One to use sparingly, this lovely little tub of scrub is great for sensitive skin. Most scrubs are quite harsh on my skin but this one is just soft enough that I feel like my face has been thoroughly cleansed but I haven’t scratched off an entire layer of skin…

  • Neal’s Yard Almond Oil
    • Now i know I’ve mentioned this one a few times on this blog already but it’s only because this is my skin saviour year on year. It’s the only thing that can manage my eczema and goes on perfectly after something like the scrub above.

img_3104

  • Lush BIG Shampoo
    • A must have if you’re a fan of scented shampoos. I switch between this and more moisturising shampoos as I find this slightly dries out my hair (not always a bad thing) but the texture is so nice, with salt flakes that foam up. I also cannot begin to explain how good this smells – and you can really smell it even after having dried your hair, and the day after. No joke. I love this.

  • Clarins Moisture Rich Body Lotion
    • I got this as a gift from my aunt and didn’t use it for a while as I was getting through a big tub of Neutrogena that I was determined to finish up. I now wish I had switched to this ages ago. Although on the pricier side, this moisturiser is thick but not too thick, smells good but not too strong, sinks into the skin but not too much… You get the idea.

img_3103

  • OGX Argan Oil shampoo
    • Like I was saying with the Lush shampoo, this is what I use when I feel my hair needs that extra little bit of love. I notice stronger and softer hair right after washing and I feel this really gives my hair the refresh that it needs when the weather keeps changing so much.

  • Origins Drink Up mask
    • Although I’m always tempted by that gorgeous gold Origins mask that peels off, I can’t help but reach for this one every time. After being sick for a few days recently I was completely dehydrated and overnight my skin dried out. Using this once before the shower and following it with a thin coat of my trusty E45 – good as gold.
